Education Challenges: Obesity at young age, lack of physical activity, and malnutrition#links
Maria,
I think you have a great topic and awareness is needed when it comes to our young children. This is an area they struggle with. Research also indicate that the social context in which a child is introduced to or has experiences with food is instrumental in shaping food preferences because of eating environment serves as a model for the developing child. For many children, eating is a social event that often times occurs in the present of parents, others adults, older sibling and peers. You have a great topic. Good Luck!!!

  1. I really like your topic because obesity is becoming such a larger issue. Its so sad that obesity starts at such a young age. Its very important to teach healthy eating skills. I wish you good luck with your topic and excited to see where you take it.

  2. VERY CUTE!!!
I have really enjoyed your post and I find it very touching obisity is very known in Mississippi today. I really love how you emphasize the importance of education in challenges, which result Obesity in young children, lack of physical activity, and malnutrition. It is very challengiing to have to address such issues and not become emotional. Then again those children that don't have much food and it really affects them mentally and academically. It is a big problem that is arising in society today. I have found that some children like to participate in music and movement and some that feel they don't need to participate, as well. They some what become withdrawn. They may have and issue that the teacher may have little control over. For example, not having an adequatent of amount of food. And with your plan in place how would you implement the importance of this matter? as well. Knowing the importance of those that fall in the obesity catergory for eating too much, but education challenges for them are OK, but what about those that do not fall in that catergory?
